Weekly reset (Friday)
WvW resets every Friday, separately for each region:

At reset, all maps wipe to neutral, every team's score zeroes out, and a fresh 1-week match begins. Stonemist Castle is unowned at reset — the first team to push into the centre and cap it gets a huge early lead.

2-hour Skirmishes
Within each weekly match, the score is split into 2-hour skirmishes. Each skirmish has its own winner and contributes skirmish points to the weekly score. There are 84 skirmishes in a full week, but you only need to land in the top tier of each one to maximise pip earnings.
Skirmishes also drive the Skirmish Reward Track — pips are awarded per skirmish-tick (every 5 minutes) when you have Tier 3+ participation.
Monthly team rotation
Under World Restructuring, the 27 teams (15 EU, 12 NA) are rebuilt the first Friday of each month. Within a month, you fight different opponents each weekly reset on a 4-week cycle.
What to do at reset
Most major commanders are online at reset for the SMC rush and key tower flips — it's the easiest time to find a full squad. If you want max pips for the week, getting on at reset and staying ~2 hours nets a huge participation/pip bank.
