What it does

The Target Painter is the trick version of the Target Painter Trap — instead of being placed on the ground, you throw it at a target location up to 1,200 units away. On impact, every enemy in the 360-unit radius gets a persistent visible marker for 30 seconds.

It's the higher-supply, higher-impact version of the Painter Trap. Where the trap is great for static defence, the Painter trick is what an organised squad uses during a fight to expose a focus target.

How to use it

  • On the enemy commander. A painted commander is much harder to lose track of in a chaotic zerg fight — instant focus-target for your DPS line.
  • On a stealth-bombing thief. The mark reveals them the moment they exit stealth, and tracks them for 30 seconds.
  • On a stacked group right before your bomb. Painter + 25-target arrow cart volley + your zerg's AoE = total wipe potential.
  • On the rear of a retreating enemy zerg. Marks let your follow-up squad cleave wounded stragglers reliably.

Counters

  • You can't dodge a Painter. "Cannot be avoided" applies to the trick too — once thrown, anyone in radius is marked.
  • Stealth-cleanse skills don't help — the marker stays through stealth.
  • Spread out. 360 radius is small; staying loose means fewer of your group get marked.
  • Outwait the 30 seconds if you can — disengage, regroup, re-push.
